Description
The Trash Can Sinatras – Cake is the debut album by the Scottish band, released on Go! Discs in 1990. With the singles "Obscurity Knocks", "Only Tongue Can Tell" and "Circling The Circumference" it is a classic of British guitar indie pop; "Obscurity Knocks" became the band's biggest hit, and the album spent three months on the US Billboard 200. It was recorded at Shabby Road Studios in Kilmarnock and produced by Roger Bechirian, John Leckie and the band themselves. This copy is the European original pressing from 1990 (Go! Discs 828 201-1) with original inner sleeve.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes. It is the European first issue from 1990 on Go! Discs, catalogue number 828 201-1 (barcode 0 42282 82011 2). There are two pressings: one from Holland (PRS Baarn, stamped matrix "828 201 1 S1=1 670 07 116") and one by Orlake (etched matrix "828-201-1 A ORLAKE", "INT 828 201-1" on back sleeve and spine, with printed inner sleeve).
Is it "Trash Can" or "Trashcan" Sinatras?
On this 1990 record the name is printed as two words: "The Trash Can Sinatras". Later releases such as the 2023 reissue of "Cake" appear as "Trashcan Sinatras" in one word – which is why collectors search for both spellings.
What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that barely affect playback or overall appearance. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
