FAQ

Where was the album recorded?
At the Den-En Colosseum, a tennis stadium in Tokyo, on July 23, 1977. That is where the "Colosseum" in the title comes from.

What does V.S.O.P. stand for?
The name is borrowed from the cognac grade "Very Special Old Pale". The band was formed in 1976 when Herbie Hancock brought his former Miles Davis quintet colleagues together for a concert at the Newport Jazz Festival, with Freddie Hubbard in place of Miles Davis.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the records show light signs of play but play cleanly. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means more noticeable wear, here shelf wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more V.S.O.P. Quintet records?
Yes, for example The V.S.O.P. Quintet – Live Under The Sky. More titles with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter are in our Jazz collection.
