Description

W.A.S.P. – The Crimson Idol is a concept album by W.A.S.P., released in June 1992 (in Europe on Parlophone, cat. no. 79 9443 1). Blackie Lawless wrote all songs and produced the album at Fort Apache studio in Hollywood, working on it for almost three years; it was originally planned as a solo album. It tells the story of rock star Jonathan Steel, who leaves home after his brother's death, becomes famous, but seeks his parents' acceptance in vain. This copy is a 1992 European original pressing with printed inner sleeve.

FAQ

What is The Crimson Idol about?
It follows fictional rock star Jonathan Steel: after his brother's death he leaves home and becomes famous, but keeps seeking his parents' acceptance and breaks down over it. The songs tell the story in order.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
Both record and sleeve are graded VG+. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that hardly matter. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1992 European first edition on Parlophone, catalogue number 79 9443 1, as a single LP with inner sleeve.

Do you have more W.A.S.P. records?
Yes, for example W.A.S.P. – The Last Command (EU original 1985), Live... In The Raw (EU original 1987) or the debut W.A.S.P. as a 2024 reissue. More titles are in our Metal collection.
