Description

Zapp – Zapp is the debut album by Dayton, Ohio funk band Zapp, led by Roger Troutman, released on July 30, 1980 on Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded in 1979/80 at United Sound Studios in Detroit and produced by Roger Troutman and Bootsy Collins; Roger Troutman wrote all the songs. The album spent two weeks at number 1 on the US R&B album chart and went gold, and “More Bounce To The Ounce”, with Troutman’s talk box, became one of the most sampled funk tracks in hip-hop. This copy is the 2022 Music On Vinyl reissue on purple 180g vinyl, limited to 1,500 numbered copies, new and factory sealed.

Yes. The LP is new and factory sealed. The images are our own scans of the actual copy for sale.

Is this the original pressing?
No. The album first came out in 1980 on Warner Bros. This is the 2022 Music On Vinyl reissue (MOVLP1142) on purple 180g vinyl.

What is a talk box?
A talk box sends the sound of an instrument through a tube into the player’s mouth, where it is shaped like speech. Roger Troutman made this “talking” synthesizer sound Zapp’s trademark.

Yes, for example Zapp – Zapp II. More titles are in our Soul & Funk collection.
