De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead (Vinyl 2LP | EU Reissue | 2023 | Limited Edition)

De La Soul – De La Soul Is Dead is De La Soul's second studio album, released on May 14, 1991 on Tommy Boy. The group again produced it with Prince Paul, recording in 1990–1991 at Calliope Studios in New York. The cover with the broken pot of daisies marks the break from the "D.A.I.S.Y. Age" image of their debut, and it was one of the first albums to get the full five-mic rating from The Source. Singles included "Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)" and "A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays'". This copy is the 2023 European reissue on Chrysalis/AOI Records (cat. no. RMM-052-1), new and factory sealed.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original came out on Tommy Boy in 1991. This double LP is the 2023 reissue on Chrysalis/AOI Records, cat. no. RMM-052-1, remastered by Michael Fossenkemper.

Is the record new?
Yes. This copy is new and factory sealed, the shrink wrap is unopened.

What are the skits about?
The short interludes tell a framing story: a group of kids find a tape of the album in a trash can, listen to it and comment on it. That is why there are so many skits and WRMS segments between the songs.

Do you have more De La Soul records?
Yes, for example De La Soul – Stakes Is High (2023), De La Soul – 3 Feet High And Rising (DE original 1989), De La Soul – Buhloone Mind State and De La Soul – And The Anonymous Nobody. More titles are in our Hip Hop collection.
