Description
Don Cherry – Home Boy (Sister Out) is an album by trumpeter Don Cherry on Barclay (cat. no. 827 488-1). It was recorded and mixed in May and June 1985 at Studio Caroline in Paris, produced by Ramuntcho Matta, and released in 1985. Instead of free jazz, Cherry offers a blend of pop, funk, reggae, rap and West African influences, playing pocket trumpet, doussn'gouni, synthesizer and melodica and singing on most tracks. This copy is the 1985 French original pressing.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1985 French first edition on Barclay with catalogue number 827 488-1.
Is this a jazz album?
Only partly. Cherry sings and raps over funk, reggae and synthesizer grooves mixed with West African sounds, so the record sits between jazz, pop and world music.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more Don Cherry records?
Yes, for example Gato Barbieri / Don Cherry – Togetherness and Don Cherry & The Jazz Composer's Orchestra – Relativity Suite. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
