Description

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong – Ella & Louis is the singers' first joint album, recorded on August 16, 1956 in Hollywood and released the same year on Verve. Producer Norman Granz paired them with the Oscar Peterson Quartet featuring Herb Ellis, Ray Brown and Buddy Rich. The eleven ballads and standards, among them "Cheek To Cheek", "They Can't Take That Away From Me" and "April In Paris", draw on the contrast between Ella's clear voice and Armstrong's rough timbre and trumpet solos. This copy is the 2010 European WaxTime reissue on 180 g vinyl.
