Description

Elvis Presley – A Golden Celebration is a 6-LP box set that RCA released in 1984 for Elvis' 50th birthday as part of the Elvis 50th Anniversary Series (cat. no. CPM6-5172). It collects mostly previously unreleased or rare material from 1954 to 1968, in mono: Sun outtakes, the TV appearances with the Dorsey Brothers, Milton Berle, Steve Allen and Ed Sullivan, both Tupelo concerts of 26 September 1956, home recordings from his army years in Germany and the first sit-down show of the NBC TV special from June 1968. The box is embossed in gold and numbered with a sticker on the back. This copy is a used US original from 1984.

FAQ

What is included in the box?
Six LPs in printed card inner sleeves with their own liner notes, plus a 25 x 20 cm photo of Elvis and a promo sheet for the 50th Anniversary Series. The photos show which inserts are present with this copy.

Why is the box in mono?
Almost all recordings come from 1950s TV broadcasts, concert tapes and home recordings that only exist in single-channel form. The 1968 sit-down show is presented in mono here as well.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- for the record means near mint, with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ for the cover means light signs of use that barely affect playback or overall appearance. The box shows some wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Are there more records by Elvis Presley?
Yes, for example Elvis Presley – Rare Elvis Vol. 2, Elvis Presley – Elvis In Germany and Elvis Presley – A Legendary Performer Volume 4. You will find more titles in our Beat / Rock & Roll category.
