Description

Herbie Hancock – Secrets is an album by pianist and keyboardist Herbie Hancock, released on Columbia in August 1976. It was recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco, with Doin' It cut at Columbia Studios in San Francisco, and produced by David Rubinson and Hancock. With Bennie Maupin, Wah Wah Watson, Ray Parker Jr. and Paul Jackson, Hancock plays funk-driven jazz, including a new version of his classic Cantaloupe Island (spelled Cantelope Island here). This copy is the 1976 Japanese edition on CBS/Sony (cat. no. 25AP 244), without obi and without insert.

FAQ

Is this a Japanese original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1976 Japanese edition on CBS/Sony, cat. no. 25AP 244, made in Tokyo. The obi and insert are missing from this copy.

Is Cantelope Island the same piece as Cantaloupe Island?
Yes. Hancock re-recorded his 1964 tune here with his band of the time in a much funkier version; on this record the title is spelled Cantelope Island.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Herbie Hancock records?
Yes, for example Herbie Hancock – Sunlight, Herbie Hancock – Man-Child and Herbie Hancock – Takin' Off. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
