Description

Joe Farrell – Canned Funk is an album by saxophonist and flautist Joe Farrell on CTI Records (cat. no. CTI 6053 S1), released in 1975. It was recorded in November and December 1974 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, produced by Creed Taylor and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. Farrell wrote all four pieces; with Joe Beck on guitar, Herb Bushler on bass, Jimmy Madison on drums and Ray Mantilla on percussion, it is an edgy jazz-funk record. This copy is the 1975 US original pressing in a gatefold sleeve (cut-out).

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1975 US first edition on CTI, catalogue number CTI 6053 S1, with gatefold sleeve.

What does cut-out mean?
On cut-outs a corner of the sleeve was cut off. US companies used this to mark remaindered stock sold at a discount. The record itself is not affected.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means clear signs of wear such as edge or corner wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Joe Farrell records?
Yes, for example Joe Farrell – Outback, Joe Farrell – Farrell's Inferno. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
