FAQ

What does Edition II mean?
Two complete takes were recorded at the session. The second take was released first (Edition I); at Coltrane's request Impulse! soon replaced it with the first take (Edition II). Both editions share the same cover and catalogue number; the order of the solos differs, and Elvin Jones does not solo on Edition II.

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released in 1966 on Impulse! (A-95). This copy is a 1980 US reissue on MCA.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more John Coltrane records?
Yes, for example John Coltrane – A Love Supreme, The John Coltrane Quartet – Africa / Brass, John Coltrane – My Favorite Things. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
