Description

Keith Jarrett – Hymns Spheres is a double album on ECM (cat. no. ECM 1086/87) on which Keith Jarrett plays organ only. It was recorded in September 1976 at Ottobeuren Abbey on the "Trinity Organ", the larger of the two baroque organs built by Karl Joseph Riepp; it was produced by Manfred Eicher and engineered by Martin Wieland. According to the sleeve there are no overdubs or effects – the unusual sounds come solely from partly pulled stops. The improvised suite "Spheres" in nine movements is framed by two short hymns. This copy is the 1976 German original pressing in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1976 German first edition on ECM, cat. no. ECM 1086/87, in a gatefold sleeve.

Does Keith Jarrett play piano here?
No. Throughout the album he plays the historic Riepp organ of Ottobeuren Abbey, with no overdubs or added effects.

What does Media NM- to VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
The records grade between NM- (close to new, at most minimal signs of use) and VG+ (light signs of use that hardly affect playback). VG+ for the sleeve means light wear, here some shelf wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Keith Jarrett records?
Yes, for example Keith Jarrett – Solo Concerts: Bremen / Lausanne, Keith Jarrett – Invocations / The Moth And The Flame or Keith Jarrett – Sacred Hymns. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
