Description
McCoy Tyner – Focal Point is an album by pianist McCoy Tyner, released by Milestone in 1976 (cat. no. M-9072) and produced by Orrin Keepnews. It was recorded on August 4–7, 1976, then mixed and mastered at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Tyner wrote and arranged all six pieces; he is joined by three reed players (Gary Bartz, Joe Ford, Ron Bridgewater), bassist Charles Fambrough, drummer Eric Gravatt and percussionist Guilherme Franco. On Mode For Dulcimer Tyner switches to dulcimer and Franco to tabla. This copy is the 1976 US original pressed at Santa Maria, with original label inner sleeve.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes, it is the 1976 US first edition on Milestone with catalogue number M-9072, pressed at the Santa Maria plant in California.
What is a Santa Maria pressing?
Collectors use the term for records made at the Columbia pressing plant in Santa Maria, California. Many 1970s Fantasy and Milestone titles were pressed there; they can be identified by codes in the run-out groove.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of wear. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more McCoy Tyner records?
Yes, for example McCoy Tyner – Passion Dance, McCoy Tyner – The Greeting and McCoy Tyner – Inner Voices. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
