FAQ

Is Funk Underneath a separate album?
No. It contains the same music as Kirk's Work (Prestige 7210, 1961). Prestige later reissued it under the name of the third track and added Jack McDuff to the cover credit.

When was it recorded?
On July 11, 1961 at Van Gelder Studio. This German Bellaphon edition carries no year; comparable copies are dated to around 1973.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means clear signs of wear such as edge or corner wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Roland Kirk records?
Yes, for example Roland Kirk With Jack McDuff – Funk Underneath (DE 1967), Rahsaan Roland Kirk – Bright Moments, Roland Kirk – Kirk In Copenhagen. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
