Description

Stanley Clarke – Hideaway is an album by bassist Stanley Clarke, released in 1986 on Epic (cat. no. EPC 26964, FE 40275 in the US). Clarke produced and arranged it himself, recording at numerous Los Angeles studios; the result combines fusion with mid-eighties funk and pop production. Guests include Herbie Hancock and Stewart Copeland (The Boys Of Johnson Street), Angela Bofill (Where Do We Go) and Larry Graham (I'm Here To Stay); Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed features a string arrangement by Clare Fischer. This copy is the original 1986 European pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. It is the original 1986 European issue on Epic with catalogue number EPC 26964, printed in Holland. The US edition carries FE 40275.

How does Hideaway compare with Clarke's seventies fusion records?
It is clearly more pop and funk oriented, with vocal tracks, synthesizers and typical eighties production. Clarke's bass stays in front, for example on the title track, which he recorded almost entirely on his own.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that barely affect playback or overall appearance. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more records with Stanley Clarke?
Yes, for example Maynard Ferguson – Hollywood (produced by Stanley Clarke), Return To Forever – Musicmagic and Alphonse Mouzon – Step Into The Funk. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
