Description

Wes Montgomery – The Incredible Jazz Guitar Of Wes Montgomery is an album by guitarist Wes Montgomery, recorded on January 26 and 28, 1960 in New York and released on Riverside in 1960 (produced by Orrin Keepnews). He is backed by Tommy Flanagan on piano, Percy Heath on bass and Albert Heath on drums. Besides Montgomery's own "Four On Six", "West Coast Blues" and "D-Natural Blues", the quartet plays Sonny Rollins' "Airegin" and Dave Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way"; his octave playing and soft thumb attack define the sound. This copy is the 2011 European WaxTime reissue (Jazz Classics series, remastered, limited, 180 g).

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original came out on Riverside in 1960. This record is a limited 2011 European reissue by WaxTime, remastered and pressed on 180 g vinyl.

How does it differ from the US reissue in the shop?
Not in content: both contain the same eight tracks. The differences are label, mastering and pressing; this one is the 2011 WaxTime edition on 180 g vinyl.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means for both record and sleeve: light signs of use that barely affect playback or appearance. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Are there more records by Wes Montgomery?
Yes, for example Wes Montgomery – Full House or Wes Montgomery – Movin' Wes. We also have the same album as a 1982 US reissue. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
