Description

Wolfgang Dauner – Output is a trio album by pianist Wolfgang Dauner and the sixth release on the Munich label ECM (cat. no. ECM 1006). It was recorded on September 15 and October 1, 1970 at Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg, produced by Manfred Eicher with engineer Kurt Rapp. Dauner plays piano and clavinet, partly processed through a ring modulator; Eberhard Weber plays bass, cello and guitar, and Fred Braceful percussion. The result sits between free jazz and electronic sound experiments. This copy is the 1970 German original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1970 German first edition on ECM, marked ECM 1006 on the sleeve and ECM 1006 ST on the labels.

What is a ring modulator?
An electronic effect that multiplies two signals, producing metallic, bell-like tones. Dauner used it to process his clavinet and piano as an early form of sound manipulation.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Wolfgang Dauner records?
Yes, for example The Wolfgang Dauner Group – Rischkas Soul. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
