FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The first edition was released by Prestige in the US in 1969 (PR 7615). This is the 1973 German Bellaphon reissue with catalogue number BJS 40128.

What role does Roland Kirk play on the album?
Kirk is the quartet's lead horn and switches between tenor saxophone, clarinet and manzello, and is also credited with whistle. The result pairs Byard's stylistic range with Kirk's expressive playing.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear, here a sticker on the back. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Jaki Byard or Roland Kirk records?
This is currently our only Jaki Byard record, but for Roland Kirk there is for example Roland Kirk – Reeds And Deeds and Roland Kirk With Jack McDuff – Funk Underneath. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
