Description

Metallica – Master Of Puppets is Metallica's third studio album, released on March 3, 1986 on Elektra in the US and Music for Nations in Europe. It was recorded from September 1 to December 27, 1985 at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, produced by Metallica and Flemming Rasmussen and mixed by Michael Wagener. It is the last album with bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden in September 1986, and in 2015 it became the first metal recording added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry. This copy is a 1989 European reissue on Vertigo with original inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The first edition came out in 1986 on Elektra and Music for Nations. This copy is a 1989 European reissue on Vertigo, issued after Metallica moved from Music for Nations to Vertigo/Phonogram in Europe.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
Both record and sleeve are graded VG+. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that have little or no effect on playback. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Is this the last album with Cliff Burton?
Yes. Cliff Burton died on September 27, 1986 in a bus accident in Sweden during the tour for this album. His bass is especially prominent on the instrumental Orion.

Do you have more Metallica records?
Yes, for example Ride The Lightning (EU reissue 1989), Kill 'Em All (EU reissue 1989) or ...And Justice For All (EU reissue 2018). More titles are in our Metal collection.
