Description

Oregon – Crossing is Oregon’s second album on ECM (cat. no. ECM 1291), released in 1985, two years after the self-titled “Oregon”. It was recorded in October 1984 at Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg, digitally engineered by Martin Wieland and produced by Manfred Eicher. It is the last recording by the original line-up: percussionist and sitar player Collin Walcott was killed in a car accident on tour about a month later. The pieces come from all four musicians, and Ralph Towner adds piano, synthesizer and cornet to his guitars. This copy is the 1985 German original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the German first issue on ECM, catalogue number 1291, from 1985.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Why is “Crossing” a special Oregon album?
It is the last record with founding member Collin Walcott, who died in an accident in November 1984, shortly after the sessions. The band continued with Trilok Gurtu on percussion.

Do you have more Oregon records?
Yes, for example Oregon – Roots In The Sky and Ecotopia, as well as Ralph Towner solo albums such as Solo Concert. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
